You can’t escape Call of Duty. With more than 100 million copies sold, and over 1.6 billion online hours logged on Modern Warfare 3 alone, it’d be like pretending The X Factor didn’t exist. Like it or not, it’s here. 

Like any massive franchise, the formula is honed to near perfection, with a plot slimmer than an under-fed supermodel and bombastically over-the-top action. Black Ops II doesn’t rewrite the rule book, but it does what it does so well, you won’t even care. 

The story, penned by Dark Knight Rises’ scribe David S Goyer, has real impact, as the action races from the 1970s through to 2025. Multiplayer tweaks include combat training for newbies, while those pesky zombies also make a comeback. Put simply, the best just keeps getting better!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out now on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC!
